Convention Walks

The San Diego County Rockhoppers have scheduled four (4) volkswalks for the weekend of the convention.


Friday May 4th

Afternoon/Evening Walk - Start anytime beteeen Noon and 4 p.m., finish by 8 p.m.

  • Start Point: Bernardo Winery
  • Trail: On sidewalks through quiet Rancho Bernardo residential area.
  • Rating: 1 - Wheel chairs and strollers ok. Dogs ok if on leash, with cleanup.


Saturday May 5th:

7:00 a.m. - All four (4) convention walks available starting at 7:00 a.m., finish by 11:00 a.m. if attending the business meeting and lunch, or by 5:00 p.m. otherwise.

Walk 1 - PA07/77454 - Bernardo Winery/Rancho Bernardo (see Friday above)

Walk 2 - PA07/77455 - Bernardo Winery/Poway

  • Start Point: Bernardo Winery
  • Trail: On dirt paths through nature area, short portion on sidewalks.
  • Rating: 3 - Wheel chairs and strollers not possible.

Walk 3 - PA07/77456 - Piedras Pintadas Interpretive Trail

  • Start Point: Bernardo Winery - Get start card, then drive (on your own) to the Bernardo Bay Natural Area - Less than 5 mile drive from the Bernardo Winery.
  • Trail: Walk along Lake Hodges viewing wildlife and Native American rock art.
  • Rating: 2 - Wheel chairs and strollers not possible.

Walk 4 - PA07/77457 - Poway Dam To Dam

  • Start Point: Bernardo Winery - Get start card, then drive (on your own) to Lake Poway - Five mile drive from the Bernardo Winery.
  • Trail: Strenuous walk from the Poway Dam, through the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, and up to the Ramona Dam, and Back.
  • Rating: 4 - Wheel chairs and strollers not possible.


Sunday May 6th:
7:00 a.m. - All four (4) convention walks available starting at 7:00 a.m., finish by 3:00 p.m.


While we hope you can participate in all four (4) walks, it is recognized that everyone may not have the time, or the inclination.

If you can only do one walk, make sure you do Walk #2...it is a great walk, good exercise, and lots of super views of the area.

Of course, for those die-hard folks who can't get enough walks in, in addition to these four walks, you may want to consider taking in one or more of the San Diego Rockhopper Year Round Walks available. Details can be found by clicking here for detailed information.
